Poetry: Leo

(Leo was born on 21st March, 2015)

Leo came into the world

On the first day of spring.

He came a day late,

Not wanting to cast light

On the solar eclipse

And ruin the delight

Of all the schoolchildren

Looking at the sky

With pin-hole boxes.

The moving of the earth

Lined up the sun and moon,

And the March equinox

Made day and night

Two equal halves

Of dark and light

On the threshold of perfection

And Leo breathes life

Into his first day in the world.
